Definition
A self-picked win is one where the winning tile was drawn from the wall rather than called from a discard, and under League rules all three opponents pay double.
The double stacks with the jokerless double, so a self-picked hand with no jokers in it costs each opponent four times its value.
At the table
Self-picked pays double from all three opponents rather than double from one. That is why the last few turns are worth slowing down for. If you are one tile away, the difference between drawing it and being fed it is real money.
